Minor clash breaks out at school
ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Itanagar Police had to intervene when two groups of students of the government HS school here clashed today. A few students who sustained minor injuries were given first aid at RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar PS OC T Bage told this daily. Police informed that clash took place over matters relating to the selection of school captain.
Further OC Bage informed that no FIR has been lodged so far against anybody in regards to the incident. However he confirmed that there was group clash among students and few boys sustained minor injury during the clash. Meanwhile, members of SUMA visited the school after the incident. They met the victims and expressed anguish over the incident. SUMA also drew the attention of the Chief Secretary in this regard and strongly criticized the involvement of outsiders in the school matter.
State Level Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp concluded
ITANAGAR, Aug 12: The five days state level Rajya Puraskar Testing camp of three districts namely Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri and Kurung Kumey organized by the district head quarter Bharat Scouts and Guides concluded on Thursday at Polo Colony Naharlagun.
Altogether 28 participants, 4 senior service scouts and staff members attended in the camp. Various kinds of tests like law & promise, prayer, flag song, knotting, lashing, mapping, estimation and camp craft had conducted during the camp. China has cleared three dam projects on Brahmaputra
NEW DELHI, Aug 12: China has cleared three dam projects on Brahmaputra mainstream in Tibet, government said on Monday.
"The recently released 'Outline of the 12th Five year plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China' indicates that three dam projects on the main stream of the Brahmaputra river in Tibet Autonomous Region have been approved for implementation by Chinese authorities," minister of water resources Harish Rawat said.
In a written reply to a query in Rajya Sabha, Rawat said that as a lower riparian state with established user rights India had conveyed its views to China and urged it to ensure that the interests of downstream states are not harmed by any activity in upstream area.
He also said that three states — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Bihar — had written to the Centre expressing concern over the construction activity by China in the upper reaches of Brahmaputra. PTI

Arunachal celebrates National Librarians’ Day
ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Along with the rest of the Nation, Arunachal Pradesh today celebrated the National Librarians’ Day to commemorate the 121st birth Anniversary of father of Library Science Dr. S R Ranganathan.
At Itanagar, the National Librarians’ Day was celebrated with various programmes at the conference hall of the Directorate of Public Libraries. The celebration began with rich floral tribute paid to the portrait of Dr Dr. S.R. Ranganathan by the dignitaries’ present including director of public libraries Jotom Borang, who chaired the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, T. Tagru, Councilor, Itanagar Municipality lauded the initiative taken by the Directorate of Pubic libraries for the benefits of students and suggested them to take advantage of the library services.
R.N. Koley, Asstt. Director of Research appreciated the services rendered by the Directorate of Libraries in Arunachal Pradesh in proper track which reaches in grass root level. “Arunachal Pradesh is having Block Libraries which are not available in other developed state like West Bengal. So the librarians of this state deserve appreciation who have been working throughout the year for the society without beating their drums.

The students who won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in both the categories were awarded with cash amount of Rs 1000, Rs 800 and Rs 500 respectively by Headmaster of govt secondary school, Khonsa, T Akhang, who presided over the function. “Aberystwyth is a small town with a total population of 20,000 including 10,000 students of Aberystwyth University where 60 lakh books are available and each one on the street, bus, train or park would be found with only books,” he said to drive home his message about the value of books.
Aberystwyth is a major Welsh educational centre in United Kingdom since the establishment of a university college there in 1872.
“The West is rich not with money but knowledge; that is why at every library in the West a long queue of students is visible. Hardly any book lover is seen either at the Itanagar Central Library or any district library in Arunachal,” he rued at the lack of interest in books among the present generations. Appreciating the APLS and its office bearers, especially president YD Thongchi, a Sahitya Akademi awardee, and general secretary Tokong Pertin for their efforts in spreading the light of literature as the mirror of the society, Kumar assured all possible support in its future endeavours for institutionalizing the APLS for it to work consistently for the greater welfare of the Arunachalee society.
Kumar recalled accompanying APLS member and RGU Hindi Associate Professor Jamuna Biny, who anchored the event, to attend the World Hindi Conference at Surinam in 2003 besides instituting the Verrier Elwin Literary Award in 2003 as Papum Pare deputy commissioner.

ANINI, Aug 12: The NHPC Ltd handed over a Kirloskar 10 KV, silent Diesel Generator set to District Hospital, Anini in the presence of Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Tamune Miso here on Wednesday last.
The DG set was formally inaugurated by Miso after it was successfully installed, commissioned and handed over to Dr Muchu Mihu, District Medical Officer (DMO), Anini by Dr L Hanner, Assistant Chief Medical Officer, NHPC Ltd.
On the occasion were present Rezina Mihu, General Secretary, All Idu Mishmi Students Union (AIMSU), Dr. James Lego, Medical Officer, Anini, Dr. Kimi Pulu, Medical Officer, Anini, Bengia Guma, Deputy Manager (Civil), NHPC Ltd, Mobom Riba, JE (Civil) and other local public leaders.
Anini District Hospital is equipped with Semi Auto Analyser used for blood tests along with reagents and complete accessories and diagnostic kits of Hepatitis B&C donated by NHPC Ltd. The DG Set will provide the electricity supply needed for these equipments to be operated. Miso appreciated NHPC Ltd for taking up such noble initiatives and urged NHPC authorities to take up similar types of activities in the near future for the benefit of local public.
The installation of the 10KV Generator is one of the major steps taken up by NHPC Ltd under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It will contribute to mitigating the power hardship of Anini District Hospital.

ITANAGAR, Aug 12: The Educational cum Social awareness tour organized by Galo Students’ Union (GSU) was flagged off by MLA Tako Dabii amidst large gathering of students Panchayat leaders and public of Nari Koyu area at Telam today.

CHANGLANG, Aug 12: A District Level Science Seminar on the topic – Water Cooperation: Issues and Challagnes” was held at DIET Auditorium Changlang on August 10 last.
Speaking on the occasion, Changlang deputy commissioner Chanchal Yadav called upon the participants to inculcate scientific temperament among the students to do away with the superstitious belief in the society.

Bamang Taji FC have been around as a team for quite a while now and have been a team to reckon with all throughout the tournament as one of the favourites. However, everyone knew that they would have their task cut out for them when they took on Doimukh FC which comprised of some of the most experienced and skilled players the state has produced.
There were cheers and jeers from the very first whistle as audiences and players alike knew they were about to witness a very interesting match.
One-
With a goal behind, BTFC searched desperately for an equaliser but the score would
remain 1-
DFC players were determined to hold on to their narrow lead and maintained it for the initial ten minutes of the match. However, Tage That of BTFC had other plans as he slotted the ball past the DFC keeper Mingu Bage in the 24th minute to level the match.
Both teams fought hard and long but were not able to break through each other’s defence.

player began expressing his anger to the referee over a controversial decision in

otherwise. Unfortunately for DFC, it meant that they were out of the tournament as

Tale of Jairampur

Jairampur, a sub-
No stranger to this problem, our medical compound bears the extra lush green outlook throughout the summer months. Except for once in a very long while, when our fortune takes a good turn to get and greet the helping hands of some concerned people, like the recent act of benevolence extended by the youths of the Evangelical Union (EU) of Jairampur, who had conducted a social service at the medical compound with much enthusiasm. Their help came in right time when the action was most needed. The medical compound since then is much free from the encroaching vegetation and thus free from the swarming mosquitoes and crawling leeches. We the medical staffs in turn could not offer them anything at that time but now will say ‘Thank you’ through your esteemed daily. Also, let’s take the message to the masses this Independence Day that as we cherish our freedom this August, let’s take a cue from the likes of the EU youths of Jairampur and extend our care for our common possessions that we have gotten as a free nation.

Is capital road only for VIP and VVIPS?
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed newspaper, I express my agony as an AAM ADMI and want to awaken conscience of so called VIP's/VVIP's and bully type bellicose people.
Few days ago I was on my way to Naharlagun at around 09:30 AM. From Pappu Nallah
onwards, there was an endless traffic jam in our paper thin coated and unfit to be
called National Highway Road. It took about an hour to reach Naharlagun because of
the following reasons:-
1. The vehicles of so called VIP's and VVIP's elected by AAM ADMI's were breaking the traffic laws.
2. Behind so called VIP's and VVIP's, numerous fake and opportunist vehicles moved at an alarming speed acting like the VIP's and VVIP's vehicles to reach Naharlagun.
3. Even some prudent government servants were breaking the traffic laws along with the bully type public.
I being a lean and thin man could not dare to mend them for reasons and consequences best known to myself and the AAM ADMIS.
Day before yesterday i.e., on 08-
I presume that my few words are sufficient to awaken conscience of all the violators of traffic laws. I also presume that the prudent law makers and administrators act tough against all the traffic violators. Hope next time in our pothole highway an AMM ADMI will see the vehicles of rich, powerful and influential people moving decently. It is my humble request to throw a net which not only catches the small fishes but also the big mammals like whales, else today or tomorrow one among AAM ADMI's poor vehicle will be kissed by the driver's of vehicle performing stunts during traffic jam. Now I am sure that all the sane District Administrators of my beautiful state will be kind enough to implement the laws/rules/notifications/guidelines relating to use of beacon light and designation plate.
Lastly, I quote what Hon'ble Supreme Court had said, "Use of beacon on government and private vehicles should be drastically restricted so that the right of freedom of movement of people is not affected”. Status is enhanced not by travelling in beacon vehicles but by work done by them.

The Panchayat leaders of Dem village area appeals to concerned authority for spot verification and arrange immediate relief from Chief Minister’s relief fund.

No one is bothered about plight of DRDA employees
Dear Editor,
Nature is providing so many things but we the human being are exploiting it without knowing its future importance. Likewise, the same is happening to DRDA Department of Arunachal Pradesh. DRDA department provides so many rural schemes like MNREGA, SGSY, IAY, SGRY, IWMP/Hariyali projects etc. to the state Govt, which help in eradication of poverty in rural areas. Through these schemes each and every sections of society are benefited. It may be local citizen, common people, PR leaders, politicians and high profile officers. Their main is to extract whatever opportunities available under DRDA schemes.
On the other hand no one has time to ask the employees of DRDA’s, whether they are getting their salary or not? How they serve the people in such a pathetic condition? Why they are crying for their absorption? Why they are not getting their salary for the past many months? Why they are ignored by the state as well as central govt.? Why they are devoid of basic rights and neglected from their genuine opportunities? Why does the state govt, have no proper solution for DRDA employees which give lots to our state?
In my opinion, the state govt, have to absorb the DRDA employees in the line department by viewing the importance of DRDA department. One positive step by the govt, will open a lifeline to all the employees of DRDA.
